Jan 29th Ms. Giancarla gave Pollination Perservation session, she is a retired math and science teacher, is affectionately known as the “Bluebird Lady” due to her decades-long commitment to restoring the Eastern bluebird population (Sialia sialis).
Her dedication extends to promoting the mission of the Bumblebee Project, where she actively contributes to efforts that protect pollinators at risk.
During the presentation, we learned how an individual, inspired by the Bumblebee Project's mission, established a Pollination Preservation Garden. This garden, which includes over 80 species of native plants that support at-risk pollinators, saw the successful return of two endangered bumblebee species within just one year of planting.
The session highlighted the profound impact that thoughtful planting choices can have on species preservation and biodiversity. It also emphasized how both private and public lands can play a role in safeguarding these essential creatures.
The Fisco member expressed gratitude for the valuable insights shared during the learning session.
