On May 4, the Newton Center burst to life as nearly 100 people gathered for FISCO’s grand opening; and the energy was unmistakable. From the moment guests walked in, the room filled with laughter, hugs, and the happy chaos of old friends reconnecting and new friendships forming.
The afternoon quickly turned into a full-on celebration. Seniors enjoyed a spread of delicious food, music that got toes tapping, and dancing that kept smiles wide. Some clapped along to familiar tunes, others chatted animatedly over lunch, and many jumped right onto the dance floor. It wasn’t just an opening, it felt like the start of something special.
The joy grew even brighter when everyone came together to celebrate the birthday of FISCO founder Rita Shah. Attendees honored her vision, her years of dedication, and her commitment to creating spaces where seniors can stay active, connected, and inspired. The birthday songs, warm wishes, and heartfelt moments made the celebration even sweeter.
Throughout the event, volunteers and organizers made sure every guest felt welcomed and cared for. The music never stopped, the conversations never slowed, and the room stayed buzzing with excitement from beginning to end. Many guests left saying they couldn’t wait to return for weekly gatherings and upcoming programs.
By the end of the afternoon, one thing was clear: the Newton Center is already more than a building. It’s a new home for community, friendship, and joy; exactly the kind of space FISCO strives to create for seniors across the region.
