On February 4th, 2025, FISCO (Friends of Indian Senior Citizens Organization) joyously inaugurated a new location at the Shrewsbury Senior Center, marking a significant milestone in their mission to serve the South Asian senior community. The event was made even more special with the celebration of Vasant Panchami, a festival that honors Saraswati, the goddess of wisdom, arts, and knowledge.

The vibrant celebration kicked off with heartfelt introductions of the FISCO team members, many of whom have been dedicated to supporting and empowering the South Asian senior community for over 14 years by Rita Shah (founder). Their commitment to enhancing the lives of seniors and creating a supportive, cultural space was evident, as they warmly welcomed everyone to the new location.

To honor the occasion, Mr. Ram Bhatt, a respected member of the community, recited the Saraswati Vandana, a sacred hymn invoking blessings for knowledge, creativity, and enlightenment. This thoughtful gesture created a peaceful, reflective tone of the day.

Following the ceremony, guests were invited to partake in a traditional cultural lunch, showcasing a variety of delicious, vegetarian meal.

As part of their ongoing efforts to bring cultural enrichment to the community, FISCO will be offering these cultural meals every 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month, members were informed to RSVP via website www.thefisco.org. These special luncheons provide an opportunity for seniors to connect, enjoy nourishing food, and partake in meaningful conversations within a welcoming, vibrant environment.

The new location at the Shrewsbury Senior Center not only serves as a physical space but also as a symbol of FISCO’s enduring commitment to fostering a sense of belonging, cultural pride, and well-being for seniors.
