Aug 10th 2024, IAGB, Indian community & local representatives of the town of Westford gathered together for the commemoration of India's 78th Independence Day in Westford, MA.
The IAGB sponsored the event, and local community leaders spoke briefly to give context to the event, encouraging us to reflect and gain a deeper understanding and appreciation for the historical importance of India's Independence from British rule 78 years ago! We paid tribute to both the American and Indian flags by singing both the American National Anthem and the Indian National Anthem with a strong sense of community spirit.
FISCO was represented at the event by Ms. Pushpa Shah and Ms. Anshu Bakshi, who attended to introduce and provide information about the new FISCO initiative catering to the senior citizens of Westford, MA.
In her speech, Wendy Gloyd, a member of Westford's DEI team, highlighted the importance of Indian-origin residents in the town. She praised FISCO for successfully securing an agreement with Westford COA to offer crucial assistance to Indian-origin seniors residing in Westford.
During the presentation, the IAGB representative also mentioned the mission of FISCO and shared how her parents are currently reaping the benefits of the program in Burlington, MA.
The FISCO team was welcomed by the town officials of Westford, who expressed gratitude for bringing a program tailored for the Indian diaspora residents of Westford.
Numerous elderly individuals visited the FISCO booth to converse, comprehend, and sign up for the Grand Inaugural event scheduled for November 6th, 2024.
